Kipnis, Zvi (Zvika)


The only son of Rosa and Zusa was born on 28.8.1930 in Eretz Israel, where he completed elementary school and then continued his studies at the Herzliya Gymnasium in Tel Aviv And completed it in 1948. He excelled in the Bible and mathematics and continued to study at the Technion in Haifa in order to contribute later his talents in the development of the Negev. From his youth, he excelled in sports and specialized in water sports. Before his enlistment, he joined the Hagana and joined the Haganah, “If we do not establish the state, no one will rise up” – in one of his essays he completed his studies at the Gymnasium. He was a member of the “Alexandroni” Brigade, and was a graduate of the “Triangle”, Latrun, Kakun and Migdal Tzedek Battalions. On July 15, 1948, his company replaced another company from the brigade, east of Kula, and had not yet managed to prepare and dig in properly on the morning of the 9th of Tammuz 5707 (16.7.1944). 8) Legion forces attacked the outpost. Aided by artillery fire and armored vehicles, swept the department posts at the front post and forced the company to withdraw. In this battle he fell while serving as a mortar sergeant. Only after the outpost was taken back were the dead bodies found. Zvi and his friends were brought to rest in a mass grave in Netanya’s military cemetery.
