Kimmel, David


Son of Yitel and Shmaryahu, was born on October 17, 1930 in Berlin, the capital of Germany. In 1933 he immigrated to Israel with his family, who settled in Petah Tikva. He had a quick grasp. When he was five years old, he entered first grade and after completing his studies in this class, his teachers made him two more classes. After graduating, he studied at Yeshivat Achim Temimim, Hebron and Beit Yosef. His teachers attest to his outstanding talents, and the rabbi of his “yeshiva” asked his parents to keep him among his students because they helped them all get their studies. David joined the Ezra youth movement near Poalei Agudat Israel. Participated in the core of a nucleus called “Netiva” in Kibbutz Chafetz Chaim. Out of a sense of duty to be of help to his parents, he gave up his personal inclination to live on the kibbutz, returned home and studied the electrical profession. He joined the “Bnei Akiva” organization and the Gadna in order to prepare himself for the defense of the homeland, and he was of a solid and persistent nature, and he was very fond of his talents as well as in his previous places. He was transferred to the “Hayash” unit in the Alexandroni Brigade and is only 17 years old. He was sent to Kfar Yavetz and took part in protecting the place and its surroundings under the most difficult conditions. A few days later he was wounded in the battle, during a multiple enemy attack, and while he was bleeding, he emptied three more “Stan” magazines on the approaching enemy. After a few weeks he left the hospital, returned to service, was sent to a religious company on the front of the center and excelled in his heroism. He completed a sabotage course and participated in many battles of his brigade, including the conquest of Salameh, Hiriya, Arab Kfar Saba, Kakun, Tantura, Kula, Rantia and more.
