Kenisler, Isaac

Isaac, son of Luna and Santo, was born on August 15, 1952, in Izmir, Turkey. He immigrated to Israel with his family in 1971, about ten years after his older brother immigrated to Israel, and was happy when his dream came true and completed his elementary studies in his hometown of Izmir, where he completed his studies in the Hebrew language in order to ease his absorption in Israel, and he arrived when he was eighteen and a half, and his army service was postponed for eleven months until his studies in the ulpan. Some of Yitzhak’s brothers remained in Israel, and they were the only relatives he had Yitzhak, who enlisted almost immediately after completing his studies at the ulpan, found aid and help with his brother, one of whom lived for a while, and was drafted into the IDF in January 1972 and assigned to the Engineering Corps. After basic training he was trained as a truck driver, and after a while he paid for a course for leading drivers and was qualified for this position. He served in a transport unit in the Sinai, and during his service he also completed two Hebrew courses on behalf of the IDF, and these courses helped him to be absorbed in his unit as one of the members of the group. On 30 Tishrei (26.10.1973) Yitzhak was hit on the southern front in a fatal road accident, which occurred south of Tasa and he fell while carrying out his duties. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. After his death he was promoted to corporal.
