Kaplan, Benyamin (Yehuda)

Yehuda, son of Sarah and Shlomo Kaplan, was born on January 7, 1927 in Tel Aviv and grew up in Petach Tikvah. At the age of 15, he joined the Betar movement and stood out in his courage, in his conception and dedication, and in 1943 he joined the Irgun Underground, and after a short time was transferred to the combat brigade. Yehuda was involved in many different attacks including the mortar attack on army camps, the explosion of telephone booths in cities, the confiscation of explosives from the British forces, the attack on the train in Lod and the blowing up of airplanes and railroad tracks. Yehuda once resisted a British soldier with a weapon and because he wounded him, ended up in prison. After his release, he was appointed Commander of the combat brigade in the Netanya area where he was responsible for all the operations carried out there. In the spring Yehuda took part in an attack on the Manshiyya neighborhood in northern Jaffa, and later took part in the attacks on Ramle, where he fell on the 11th of Iyar 5708 (May 20, 1948).On the 11th of Iyar,(6.5.1952) He was transferred to a grave in Kiryat Shaul.
