Jinao, Limor

Born in Tel Aviv on December 12, 1960, Limor grew up in a traditional family and moved to Haifa with her parents at an early age, where she studied at the Reali School from first grade until graduating from high schoo.l In May 1979, she enlisted in, and served in the IDF. Shortly after her basic training, her mother contracted a malignant disease and left for treatment in the US. Limor stopped her military service for a few months, and when she returned she served as a security guard in a military facility in Haifa. In January 1980, she was promoted to the rank of corporal and her commanders called her a “very good soldier, disciplined, quiet, with a high personal level.” Limor’s mother died of her illness, and being very attached to the mother, did not find solace. She fell during her service on the 17th of Shvat 5740 (February 14, 1980). She was 20 when she died. Limor was laid to rest in the cemetery in Netanya. She left behind a father and two sisters. The family, through the Jewish National Fund (Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael), planted a grove for travelers – the “Limor Forest”. The commander of her unit wrote in a letter of condolence to her family: “Limor did her job with dedication and efficiency, was very active and promoted the social and cultural side of the unit. She was guided by the strong desire and willingness to help, support, and create a pleasant atmosphere. “
