Isserowicz, Chaim

Father’s old son and Chanka. He was born on the 29th of Tishrei 5711 (29.10.1950) in Tiberias. He spent his childhood in Migdal, where he completed his studies at the Avigdor elementary school. School trips were especially loved by him, as all the students climbed up to the mountains that towered around the Sea of Galilee and looked down into the valley, to the calm and air of the Sea of Galilee, and from this sucked his love to the land for which he sacrificed his life. After graduating from elementary school, he continued his ninth grade at the Galilee High School in Tiberias. At the end of the school year, the family moved from a tower to Herzliya, where he was accepted as a high school student. Haim immediately integrated into the social life of his class and stood out as a diligent student. He even joined the “HaNoar HaOved” youth movement in the city and together with the nucleus of his class went on trips and work in the kibbutzim. Indeed, Haim was a good student, but his successes did not satisfy him, because he was naturally willing to help his friends; He particularly proved this during the period of preparation for the matriculation exams. His house was open to all his friends. Everyone would get a smile on his face. After graduating from high school, Chaim asked to join the academic reserve in order to study medicine. But when it became clear to him that he could not be admitted to medical studies, he decided to postpone these studies until after his military service. He asked to be accepted to the naval commando, paratroopers or air force, and did his best to train and prepare for the future. He waited impatiently for his enlistment and used to repeat: “If you enlist in the IDF – at least do something important and difficult – and even dangerous.” In November 1968 he was drafted into the IDF and volunteered to serve in the paratroopers. It was natural that his parents were worried and worried; In their opinion, it was a difficult task and they did not believe that Chaim would survive. But life is inexhaustible. He participated in a number of military operations – but he did not talk much about them and did not boast about his actions. In the last battle he participated in, the battle for Shadwan, Haim proved his courage and dedication: On the fifteenth of Shvat, 1970) fell in battle, thus ending the hopes and plans of the brave fighter and exemplary friend. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. A week before they fell, he was promoted to corporal. His commander wrote “Lines for his image”: “I remember when he came to us with that young man with blue eyes, and for the first time I saw him when he arrived at the paratroopers’ home in the absorption base and asked to volunteer for the paratroopers. He was one of the best soldiers in the company and took part in all the tasks assigned to the company-some within the borders of the country and some outside it, and at every moment of the test proved He was very committed to the task, and he was also highly respected by his commanders He was always good-natured, good-natured, and fit to suffer in peace, even when he pressed something on his back, or on his legs … He always had a smile on his face, although in many cases this smile was mixed with cold sweat that covered his face as a result of effort. I can not end without turning to my parents, who raised and taught Haim, and I can say that they raised a courageous son, a hero and a soldier loyal to his homeland, and he went into battle with a smile on his face. And will continue to accompany us as a symbol to continue our path to the next tasks that will be imposed on us. – – – “His friends and colleagues publishedA pamphlet in his memory, bearing his name “Chaimka”; The Migdal Local Council decided to commemorate his memory and to name the sports field next to the school in the tower; The Council also decided to plant trees in the Memorial Forest in his name; His parents set up a scholarship fund in his name and every year, on the day he fell, a memorial ceremony was held and scholarships were awarded to five outstanding students at the high school in Herzliya, where he studied.
