Ish-Shalom, Doron


Doron, son of Vardia and Brachihu, was born on September 17, 1952 in Ramat Gan. He completed six years of schooling at the Yahalom Elementary School in Ramat Gan and later joined his family, which was sent to Europe in the civil service. When he completed his mission in Europe, the family returned to Israel and settled in Nazareth Illit, where Doron entered the Moshe Sharett high school and completed high school, and Doron was a noble soul and a righteous man. Since his childhood, he has always fought for justice and equality for all, and has been a symbol and example of his social activities and struggle for his principles, especially in the organization of social gatherings for discussions and debates on moral behavior, justice and equality and attempts to solve the problem of injustice. , Was always willing to help and Doki, as he was called by all, liked a book and read and liked to write poems, and he loved art, playing clarinet, music and photography, and in the years he spent in Europe he was a frequent visitor to art shows and thus expanded his horizons and knowledge. In early November 1970 and was assigned to the Air Force. After completing a year in an aviation course, he was transferred to another unit and took a course in operating electronic equipment. He was a good soldier, dedicated and loyal to his job. The best performance of his military duties was at his head. Near the end of his regular service, he enrolled at Bar-Ilan University. On November 7, 1973, Doron was scheduled to leave the regular service, but the Yom Kippur War broke out and the date of his release was postponed. During the war he fulfilled his duties in the framework of his profession and during the War of Attrition served in the northern front. On the 19th of Nissan 5734 (19.4.1974), Holocaust Martyrs ‘and Heroes’ Remembrance Day, Doron fell in the line of duty. He was brought to eternal rest in the Upper Nazareth cemetery. Survived by his parents and two sisters. The song “Hodaya for the Fallen” written by Doron and read at a graduation party in high school was read as a eulogy next to his fresh grave at the time of his burial (the poem was later published in Yad LaBanim, Booklet 2). In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the commander of his unit wrote: “I would like to express my sincere condolences to all the soldiers of the unit on behalf of all the soldiers of the unit, who was an exemplary soldier who faithfully and conscientiously fulfilled all his duties. Heavy among us and leaving an empty place in his unit, but his memory will not be used from our hearts forever. ” A memorial monument was erected at the site where Doron was killed along with seven other members of the Israel Air Force, near the airfield at Mahanayim. The monument erected in memory of them by the bereaved families is called Yad L’Shemona. The library of his school in Upper Nazareth is named after him, to commemorate his memory; Every year, at the end of his school year, the family gives books to students who excel in their social activities, to commemorate Doron.
