Idelson, Mordechai


Was born on April 26, 1925 in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. In April 1948, he returned to his company, which was stationed in Tel Nof, as part of the Givati ​​Brigade, from where his company moved to the BILU camp and a few days later to the village of Uriya. He was able to influence, reassure, and encourage his friends with his easy temper and courage. Mordechai participated with his class in evacuating Har Tov. On the night of July 17-18, 1948, as part of Operation Death to the Intruder, Givati ​​forces raided Egyptian outposts. Mordechai participated as a squad commander in a raid on Regiment 113. When the machine gunner was hit and killed, he took his place. In this action he was hit by a bullet in the head and fell on 21 Tamuz, 18 July 1948. Mordechai was laid to rest in the cemetery at Givat Brenner.
