Hutz, Eliezer


Was born on July 9, 1919 in the city of Solnigian, Lithuania, where he studied at the Telz Yeshiva, where he became interested in external studies and moved to the Hebrew seminary in his hometown. After the liberation of Lithuania he was transferred to other sectors of the front, took part in the battle for Koenigsberg and in the battles in Upper Silesia and the Sudetenland, was wounded several times and returned to the battlefield. His heroism in the battle was awarded to him several medals of excellence, and after the war he returned to his town and there Although he had been active in the Lithuanian Communist Party for many years, he decided to abandon everything and immigrate to Israel, overcoming all difficulties, crossing borders and stealing, reaching Poland, finding his way to Hechalutz With the help of the “Irgun Ha – Bricha”, arrived in Germany, and was arrested by the British near Haifa and deported to Cyprus, where he was interned for thirteen months, Ashdot Yaakov. Here his wife Maryam and their little daughter were waiting for him. Eliezer enlisted immediately, served in the “Golani” brigade and acted as a sabotage unit. On the 27th of Tishrei, 5709 (October 30, 1948), while placing mines in the Tzemach sector, one of the mines exploded in his hands and he died in an explosion. Eliezer was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Ashdot Yaakov.
