Son of Yardena and Shaul. Born in Haifa on January 19, 1983. He was the eldest brother of Yonatan and Basmat, twins. A talented, playful and curious boy who read a lot, liked to play with friends and soccer games, and when he was four and a half he began to play chess. Since the age of eight, he has studied chess, participated in competitions, won medals and trophies, and achieved achievements, and at the age of thirteen he moved to the “Hapoel Holon” chess club. He enlisted on July 31, 2001, sought to be embedded in combat engineering and went through a combat path. He participated in Operation Defensive Shield near Nablus, Bir Zeit and near Ramallah. A month before his death, he returned home very very sick. Despite his illness and weakness, he returned to serve. On the last Sunday of his life he was at his base shot in the morning. He was supposed to go home. Cpl. Zafrir Huber fell during his duty on 20 Tamuz, 20 July 2003. He was twenty and a half when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot, leaving behind his parents, brother and sister. The personal inscriptions on his tombstone were engraved: “And the sun shall fall upon the head of Yonah, and he shall faint and ask his soul to die (Yonah 4).” For full memorial, see Hebrew biography.
