Hirschberg, Eliezer
Ben Kata and Zvi. He was born on August 4, 1944 in Tel Aviv. He studied at the elementary school in Ramatayim and at the Ironi Aleph High School in Tel Aviv. As a youngster, he belonged to the Maccabi Ramatayim association, worked in sports, played many years in a flute and loved classical music. Eliezer, Eli, loved by his lovers, loved nature and was associated with it since childhood. He toured the country’s landscapes and watched the spring bloom, the waterfalls and the winter floods in the wadis. After high school he went on to the academic reserve track and continued his studies at the Hebrew University Medical School. After graduation, he married Piracha, whom he met at the hospital. He chose to specialize in orthopedics at Assaf Harofeh Hospital. After his internship, he was posted as a battalion, brigade and divisional doctor in the field units. In the course of his service, he served in the Medical Corps, treated soldiers and wrote articles published in the IDF Medical Journal, and was a partner in the decision making process regarding orthopedic problems and the provision of medical services to IDF soldiers. Throughout his years, he stood out for his patience, caring and sensitivity, along with consistency and familiarity with the needs of the system. On the 24th of Tishrei 5753 (24.10.1992), he died of a malignant disease and was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kfar Sava. Survived by a wife, three children – Noam, Tziki and Gili, mother and sister – Bilha. His good friend eulogized him on his grave: “It is hard to digest and it is impossible to believe … There is a gap between knowledge and reality, between the logical and terrible acceptance, and the emotional side that refuses to understand, accept, accept. The connection was expressed in the concern of one person to the other, the desire to be together, with mutual humor and mutual help, we will all weep for your death and we will remember you. “
