Where he served for another year and a half, until the day he fell. He played the triple role of a paratrooper, a sabotage officer and a guide and in charge of building the fortifications. In his many activities he saved lives and participated in all the pursuits, infiltrations, dangerous operations and special operations. He seldom went home on leave and then bothered to calm his parents. But he never told them what he was doing in the army, which made them an excellent officer and an excellent fighter, whom all his commanders and subordinates loved and admired. On the 24th of Tammuz 5769 (24.6.1969), a few days before his release from the IDF, Lieutenant Yoram fell while carrying out his duties in the Jordan Valley, on his way to carry out an operational mission and was brought to rest in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery. From his unit in the Jordan Valley, letters were sent to Yoram’s parents, including the letter of his direct commander, who wrote: “The year we were together in the Jordan Valley was a lot of deeds, and I remember chases on hot summer days. In the mornings, when the dawn came to an act of mining and sabotage, Yoram was on his way to neutralize and dismantle any cargo, a place he was sure was safe to cross, and it was no coincidence that his sharp eye and professional ability did not stand up against any plot Of the enemy, and between the mining and the pursuit of the terrorists, Yoram often engaged in fortification. The enemy fire that threatened the outposts forced us to increase our fortifications and provide the positions with the ability to absorb and absorb artillery fire, along with excellent fighting ability against attacks from the ground. Yoram was with us at every outpost. He and his men carried out the professional work and, in accordance with his instructions, the soldiers of the outpost improved their positions. Before his release, we talked a lot about his future path, and Yoram, the sabotage officer, saw no contradiction between his army career and his desire to study medicine.
