Hillel (Nissim-Habani), David


Son of Tzadok and Miriam. Born on 22 December 1949 in Tel Aviv, he studied at the Kehillat Yaakov elementary school in Kfar Shalem and at the ORT vocational high school in Tel Aviv, and in the days preceding the Six-Day War, David wanted to enlist To the IDF because he felt it was his duty to serve the country, but because of his age he was not accepted. David was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in February 1969 and fulfilled his national duty with all his Lev, and he went to work behind the enemy lines even when it was not his turn to leave, and he was always the first to volunteer for any mission. , Was willing to help anyone who needed help, and filled positions that required great suffering and cold-heartedness. On May 6, 1971, he fell in the line of duty when he volunteered to perform a single mission, a dangerous mission from which he did not return. To rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, and his commander wrote in a letter of condolence: “David did a long way in the IDF and fought all along the way. Fire, stormy periods, and periods of calm, and participated in reprisals on enemy lines during the cease-fire. David was a model soldier and we will continue to establish and educate another generation of fighters. A Torah scroll was placed in the “Ezrat Achim” synagogue in the Yedidya neighborhood of Tel Aviv in honor of his name and memory, and many volunteers come up and read this Sefer Torah.
