Hecht, Bruria


Daughter of Fruma and Moshe, was born on July 31, 1954. Her parents, Holocaust survivors, immigrated to Israel after the establishment of the State of Israel. In January 1973 she joined the IDF. That same year, the Yom Kippur War broke out, and in the wake of the war she decided to dedicate her life to service in the IDF, where she completed her course in January 1974 and rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. After completing her regular service, Bruria began to serve in the regular army. In February 1980 she was diagnosed with a malignancy, and Bruria struggled with the disease for more than a year, until she died on 18 Adar II 5741 (24.3.1981) at the age of 26. She was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Holon. She left behind a mother and a sister.
