Hazom, Yaakov


Yaakov (Anwar), son of Nechama and Na’im, was born in 1949 in Iraq and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1951. He was drafted into the IDF in February 1967 and served in engineering and armored corps. Yaakov was killed during an attack on the front position during the shelling of the Egyptians on the 23rd of Tishrei 5734 (19.10.1973). He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and six brothers and sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. His parents donated a Torah scroll to the synagogue in Pardes Katz.
