Hasson, David – my uncle

Ben Miriam and Sami. As a child, my uncle was very attached to his mother and at home, but from an early age he had gathered many friends with whom he had spent and developed hobbies for which he had devoted time Ilan Elementary School, and later at the ORT high school were less important to my uncle, and spent most of his time and energy devoted to handball and surfing, and Dudi began to practice handball in the fourth grade and became an outstanding player. Hapoel “Ashkelon” and achieved high achievements, although it was low compared to its members in the group, but perhaps because of this obstacle practiced steadily and determinedly He had set himself a goal to which he had aspired, and indeed, he had come in. As early as elementary school, Uncle had begun his great love story with the sea. The most powerful of all, to the sea, to the high waves he was carrying, and he saw the challenge of the sea waves every morning, getting up at five-thirty in the morning, making himself a sandwich and going to the sea for long hours. There he was very happy. Even when he was already a soldier, and even if he arrived exhausted and tired from basic training, he went to the sea. Nothing prevented him from connecting to the sea. With his friends, who were also his partners in love to the sea, he liked to spend Friday evenings on the dance floor. My uncle devoted time and thought to his outward appearance. Before leaving, he would stand in front of the mirror and examine options, matches between trousers and belt, and a shirt. The friends waiting for him knew he was late, because my uncle could not look less than perfect. In August 1994, my uncle enlisted in the IDF, volunteering to serve in the paratroopers and preparing for it with great desire, and he prepared it all in advance: the beret and the badge took his sister’s friend, the belt, a lesson from his cousin. He was very disappointed: Dudi’s commander says that his strong desire to be a combat soldier was expressed in his “steals” of journeys and constant attempts to solve his problem, and on December 22, 1995, At the Sharon-Beit Lid junction, another twenty-one soldiers and one civilian fell, and my uncle was eighteen years old and several months later he was promoted to Corporal. He was buried in the military cemetery in Ashkelon. Survived by his parents and two sisters, to whom he was connected as a friend, Keren and Idit. When his uncle and his family are reminded of his picture, he sees his picture in the early morning, even during the sunrise, at sea, surfing the waves. Where all his beautiful qualities were expressed and where he loved to be the most.
