Har-Gil, Ron

Son of Sima and Shlomo z “l, was born on October 30, 1960 in Jerusalem. When Ron was four years old, the family moved to Ashdod. In this city, Ron first studied at the Geulim Elementary School and continued at the Gimmel Comprehensive School. When he was 10 years old his father died and the burden of making a living and caring for Ron, his brother and his sister fell on his mother’s shoulders. While still in elementary school, Ron joined the Mahanot Ha’olim youth movement, first as a trainee and later as a leader and member of the “Lotham” nucleus. Ron has a writing talent, and in his estate there are many songs that bear witness to eye sight and record. He also read extensively and devoted his time to sports, especially basketball. Before he was drafted, he worked in construction to save money for a trip to Europe. Ron was drafted into the IDF in early February 1979. Although he was a member of the Nahal Brigade, he decided to contribute more to the IDF and the State, and therefore volunteered to serve in the Paratroopers Brigade.
