Hamo, Meir
Son of Yitzhak and Hannah. He was born on the 11th of Tishrei 5766 (September 11, 1945) in his Moroccan school, as a son of a large family, attended the Alliance school there, then studied mechanical engineering at the ORT school in 1962, At the end of 1964 he was drafted into the IDF. After basic training he was supposed to be a truck driver, but he went to work in the kitchen, and since then it has become his profession in the army and in civilian life. Meir underwent cooking courses and did his work to the satisfaction of the commanders and to the soldiers’ enjoyment. He was placed as a cook at an air force base. Was promoted to the rank of Corporal, and when he was discharged from regular service, the words of appreciation were said: “He showed responsibility and dedication in carrying out his duties; Meir served as a “good professional.” When Meir left for civilian life, he completed his studies in a hotel school and worked in the army, and served in the reserves during the Six-Day War and the Yom Kippur War. At the end of 1976 he married a wife, and shortly afterwards, during reserve duty, he fell in the line of duty on 12 December 1977.
