Haimovitz, Arieh
Son of Miriam and Isaac, was born on the 23rd of Cheshvan 5712 (22.11.1951) in Tel Aviv. Aryeh attended the Yehuda Maccabee Elementary School and the New High School in Tel Aviv. He was a sensitive child, loved trips and nature, and even joined the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel. When he was a boy, Aryeh played chess. In August 1970, Aryeh enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces and served in the Armored Corps, and he did not tend to military life, but he did his duty faithfully. In 1972, Aryeh underwent a course for tank commanders and was promoted to corporal in August 1973. He was discharged from the IDF and returned to study and work. During the Yom Kippur War, Aryeh fought as a tank commander in the Golan Heights. After that, he experienced various kinds of work and study. When the Peace for Galilee war broke out, Aryeh was called to serve in the reserves and fought in Lebanon. On the 10th of Iyar, 5743 (April 23, 1983), he was on a night shift at an outpost in the Golan Heights, opposite the Syrian position. There was a weapon accident and Aryeh was killed. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv, leaving behind his parents and two sisters,
