Gur-Aryeh, Zvi


Was born in Berlin, Germany, on April 25, 1925. He immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1933 and after two years in Haifa, he was educated for five years at the “Ahava” children’s institution in Kiryat Bialik, After graduating from the Jewish Brigade in Italy and the Netherlands, he worked for a year in the Electric Company in Haifa, and immediately after the UN General Assembly resolution on the partition of the country he volunteered for service in the ” Carmeli “on 1/12/1947. He participated in almost all the battles and conquests in the north, excelled bravely and heroically, and was appointed to the position of lieutenant colonel without taking a commanding course. He participated in Operation Brosh in an effort to destroy the Syrian bridgehead in the Mishmar Hayarden region and on July 9th, 1948, he fell in the repulsion of a Syrian attack on Pardes Chory, north of the Jordan River, and was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
