Gur-Aryeh (Hadad), Gabriel

Gabriel, son of Natalia and Nissim Hadad, was born on September 18, 1951, in Haifa. He studied at the elementary school in Ramat Yishai and later went on to study at the Grinberg High School in Tivon. Gary, as his family and friends affectionately called him, made his childhood and youth in Ramat Yishai, where he was educated and matured. At school he was a diligent and diligent student and achieved excellent grades easily and effortlessly. In particular, he was found to have talents in two areas: in the real professions and in sports. When he reached high school, he chose, of course, the real trend and was among the best students in his class. Gadi devoted most of his spare time to sports. He was an active member of Hapoel Ramat Yishai’s handball team and played most of its games in the A and B league. He also played soccer in the Hapoel Yokneam team and also found time to train the Hapoel Ramat Yishai children’s team in the regional league. His friends testify to him, who was the kind of person who was fond of a human being right from the start. His sincerity, honesty, and good smile earned him many friends. At the same time, Gary was silent and withdrawn about his private life. He tended to keep his personal experiences to himself, and only a few had a glimpse into his inner world. From the letters of friends who have known him at different times in his life, the image of an energetic and ambitious young man appears, and no difficulty can stop him from fulfilling his decisions. He was proud but not proud, and although he demonstrated his talents and pride in his accomplishments, he was not arrogant. He was very sociable and because he had the talent to tell jokes and insults, they forgave him all for his over-pride, which “was expressed so lovingly that you could not but agree that this was the best way to be proud of your talents.” In every place and every frame, Gary wanted to reach a climax. That was how he was at school, and that was how he continued in the army. Gabriel was drafted into the IDF in mid-October 1969 and volunteered for the naval commando, and he wanted to serve the country with the chosen soldiers, but since he was an only child, he could not resist his mother’s entreaties and compromise on service in the Golani Brigade. Golani’s most famous summer was no longer sorry for the compromise he had made, and the actions and challenges he faced in this elite infantry unit captured him completely, and he decided to use his officers’ They were good in all subjects, and after he had won and stood well in the officers ‘examinations, he was sent to the officers’ course He completed the course with great success and was appointed commander of an auxiliary platoon in one of the regiment’s battalions, under whose command his platoon was often awarded certificates of excellence. He went through a short preparatory course, but at the same time did not stop his athletic activity and even managed to work and save a little money. In the summer of 1973, he graduated with honors at the entrance exams to the Technion and prepared to begin his studies when the war broke out. During the Yom Kippur War, Gary took part in the battles in the Golan Heights. He participated in battles against the Syrian commandos in Nahfeh camp, as well as in the invasion of Syria and the occupation of Tel Dahur. On the 22nd of Tishrei 5734 (22.10.1973), Gary participated in the second battle of the Hermon. At the head of a team stormed to occupy several positions of the Syrians and was wounded by the shrapnel Ramon, despite being wounded, organized his men for a second attack and in this attack was killed.
