Gross, Moshe-Michael (“Joyce”)


Son of Zvi (Hugo) and Bluma nee Rimmer. He was born on February 15, 1947, in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia. He immigrated to Israel with his parents, Holocaust survivors, and his younger brother. After a short period in the Beer Yaakov transit camp, the family moved to the Malaban retirement home in Bat Yam, which was run by his father. Here he attended elementary school. The atmosphere of the nursing home inspired a unique spirit and he learned to be tolerant and respect the adults. When his father was appointed manager of the Malaban retirement home in Jerusalem, the family moved there. Moshe continued his elementary studies at the “Horev” school in Jerusalem and later began to work in the Bnei Akiva and Ezra movements. He acquired his post-primary education at the Nativ-Meir high school in Jerusalem. Where his personality was shaped, where he was educated and learned through the Land. In the yeshiva his love for all the creatures of the world developed, where he was Simcha and Simcha in his part. In the 11th and 12th grades, his social activities increased, especially within the framework of the nucleus with which he was supposed to perform his military service in the Nahal paramilitary brigade, and after completing his matriculation exams he went on to study at the Merkaz Harav yeshiva in Jerusalem. Joined the Nahal Brigade in July 1966. He joined the Nahal Brigade and joined the Nahal Brigade, where he served as a cultural coordinator for the course, and was sent to a vocational course in the orchards in the agricultural academy. After an additional period of service, as part of the Shalva Brigade in Kibbutz Sha’alvim, he was about to be released from his military service, on the 24th of Iyar 5729 (24.4.1969), he died in the course of his duties. Was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. In the 1930s, a memorial wave was set up by his comrades near the site where he died – and he overlooks the Ayalon Valley; The anniversary was established in his memory at the “Ezra” branch, which he coordinated, a library on the subject of “Jewish thought”, with a Yaffa corner of memory; In addition, a library in Kibbutz Sha’alvim was established in memory of his friend in the nucleus (Aviezer Halevi Levin); In the booklet in memory of Aviezer Halevi Levin, a place was allocated to Moshe-Michael, who worked to remove it and did not see it; On May 1, 1946, members of the “Shalhevet” group “Ezra” and the “Sha’alavim” group published a pamphlet bearing the name “Joyce” – “about Moses-Michael, who was taken away and not blinded by his eye” and “Joyce was taken away.” A family friend donated a Torah scroll to the synagogue on his kibbutz.
