Greenberg, Fishel-Yosef

Son of Fanny and Moshe, was born on the 14th of Tishrai, October 6, 1922 in the city of Istanbul, Turkey. Fishel-Yosef excelled in his studies and graduated from high school when he was 16! He was fluent in six languages. He was a cheerful, friendly and joking friend. In the spring of 1942 he made aliyah to Israel via Syria. First he toured the country in all its lengths, and afterward he used all his vacations to participate in trips. Until the day he enlisted, he took care of his elderly and sick parents, and because of this, he did not marry. At first Fishel-Yosef served in the Alexandroni Brigade, first as a military policeman, then took a sabotage course and participated in explosions on various fronts and in the conquest of places, including Tel Litvinsky and Kfar Selma. On the 4th of Iyar, May 13, 1948, he was sent with his comrades in the sabotage unit to the Arab village of Kfar Saba, and all of them were killed there and brought to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
