Goldenberg, Israel (Johnny)


Son of Meir. He was born in 1908 in Poland and immigrated to Eretz Israel from Kremnitz in Volhynia in 1925. During his first years in Israel he worked in various jobs: paving roads and afforestation, setting up irrigation systems and drilling wells in various locations. His friends at that time remember the man who was galloping on his horse, always ready to confront any danger of clashes with rioters, and he was bound to the earth with all his soul and loved every tree. On the night of Saturday, April 22, 1938, while guarding the orchard in the Tel Mond area, Israel was attacked by an Arab gang and wounded, In the exchange of fire. He was transferred to the hospital and on 27 April 1938 died of his wounds. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Tel Mond. He left a wife and a son.
