Goldberg, Benjamin-Ze’ev
Son of Rachel and Yitzhak Leib. He was born on July 17, 1905 in Vilnius (Vilna), Lithuania. In 1920 immigrated to Israel with his family. On September 25, 1929, he traveled to Tel Aviv by train and immediately joined a group of defenders who rushed to the Spire factory south of the city to rescue the Jewish workers who had been attacked by Arab rioters. When they reached the place they were fired upon by gunfire from each side, and when they jumped from their vehicles, many Arabs attacked them with swords and daggers. Three Jews were killed in the attack, among them Benjamin. He was brought, with the rest of the fallen, to eternal rest in a mass grave in the old cemetery of Tel Aviv.
