Gold, Uriel
Son of Yehudit and Avraham. Born on the 23rd of Iyar, May 16, 1944 in Afula. In July 1962, Uri enlisted in the IDF and set out for a command post within the framework of the “Dekel” Nahal Brigade. In 1967, shortly before the outbreak of the Six-Day War, Uri was discharged from the IDF and moved to the kibbutz, where he served as a platoon commander in the Paratroopers Brigade. In 1973 he participated in the Yom Kippur War and continued to serve in the reserves as deputy commander of the armored infantry battalion. In 1989, Uri was appointed security officer of the Eshkol Regional Council, a position he fulfilled with exceptional dedication until his retirement in 2010. On Saturday, the 29th of Cheshvan, November 26, 2011, Uri was killed during guard duty. He was buried in the cemetery in Moshav Ein HaBesor.
