Aviv’s teachers say that Aviv was an example of determination, stubbornness and perseverance. He was serious and prudent, and even if he sometimes stood at the center of social playfulness, he was always kind and intelligent. In June 1991, Aviv enlisted in the IDF and after completing his basic training he left for the 13th year in the automotive mechanics program in the village of Sitrin. At the end of his studies he returned to the army, was stationed in the Ordnance Corps and took a course at the 20 Training Base at Tzrifin, where he was stationed in a regular unit and served in Lebanon as a member of the Al Taher ridge. Diligence and initiative even under the most difficult conditions, and when his commanders placed more and more responsibilities on him, he fulfilled every task he was assigned with great readiness, to the last detail.was a leadership ability to operate the rest of the armaments and showed interest in areas that did not directly affect him. In the course of his service, Aviv received many certificates of excellence, and for five consecutive years he was described as the outstanding soldier in the brigade and in the entire division, and in 1996 he was awarded the outstanding counter certificate from the Northern Command. Aviv’s commander wrote: “Aviv was one of those hidden people who acted quietly and modestly, with great devotion and responsibility, and acted on the Ali Taher ridge in the same gray area called armaments. , Even though his period of compulsory service has ended, and to perform the role of an officer when he is only a sergeant. This meant perfect performance of tasks and tasks, the construction and institutionalization of workshops and work procedures, and the establishment of a routine of treatment that enabled the fighters to carry out their tasks. And all this was under constant pressure from home and the daily danger that he, who was destined to work behind, knew how to stand up to the enemy and fight with courage and determination. “During his service in Lebanon, he met Aviv Baia, who served on the northern border. The couple maintained a close and daily relationship, despite the distance, and kept a “sacred hour” every day, in which he called Aya regularly, at which time no disturbance was accepted and the two chatted and told each other the experiences of their day.They exchanged letters in which they outlined their future and their wedding. On the evening of the 28th of Shvat 577 (February 4, 1997), the helicopter disaster occurred when two Yasur helicopters collided over Moshav Shear Yashuv. The seventy-three fighters, who made their way to operational activity in Lebanon, were killed, including Aviv. He was twenty-four years old when he fell. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of Major General, who was buried in the military section of Beit Yosef and left behind his parents and three brothers, Odelia, Yinon and Tehila, and his girlfriend Aya, a poem written by Leah, Aviv’s mother: “Here in the village you were born, Here in the village of Bagrat, / here in the village is buried / here – on the outskirts of the village / between the grove of cypress trees, / at the end of the moshav / nowhere / / You were a child, / Loved the land, / loved the tractor / orphaned are the fields, / also orphaned tractor, / everything remains as you left, / inanimate like us.
