Globinski, Arie

Son of Hinda and Yitzhak was born on February 13, 1928, in Kalisz, Poland, and immigrated with his parents to Israel in 1935. He enlisted in full mobilization in December 1947 for a battalion in the Alexandroni Brigade and participated in the defense of the Sharon settlements. The ranks of this battalion participated in the “Nachshon” operation to break through to Jerusalem, the conquest of villages around Jaffa and the “Danny” operation to conquer Lod and Ramle. For months on end the battalion defended the border of Sharon against the Iraqis. Aryeh studied in a communications course and became a combat technician. In this capacity he participated in a break-in attempt into the pocket of Faluja. During Operation Horev, a “liquidation operation” was carried out against the “Faluja pocket,” in which an Egyptian brigade was besieged. The attack took place on the eastern flank of the “pocket” in the area of Iraq al-Manshiyya. The Alexandroni forces broke into the village from the south and took over part of it, but their assault on the hill north of the village was repulsed. Meanwhile, the Egyptians recovered and attacked and forced our forces to withdraw. Part of the force was captured in the village. In this battle he fell on the 28th of Kislev 5709 (December 28, 1948) and was buried in Faluja. On the 17th of Kislev 5710 (8.12.1949) he was transferred to the eternal rest of the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
