Frober, Abraham
Son of Hanna and Nachman, was born on December 4, 1925, in Petah Tikva. His family lived in Moshav Gat Rimon, near Petah Tikva. Avraham completed elementary school in Petah Tikva and worked as a locksmith in the “Haargaz” factory and also sawing diamonds. During the Second World War he served for about a year in the Palmach in the Western Galilee and in the Zevulun Valley, and was liberated so that he could support his family: Avraham was a member of the Haganah from his youth. In 1947 he completed a course for commanders and a course for auxiliary weapons, and Avraham was a “sabra” who lived all his life in the village, lively, humorous, self-confident, and in every way there was no contradiction between his internal and external aspects: He served in the “Carmeli” Brigade and was active in a training unit in one of the brigade’s battalions and served as a sergeant in the rear and on the front of Mishmar Hayarden-Hada, Fell on the night of the 9th of Tammuz 5707 (17.7.1948), 16 at the time of the great attack on Khirbet, which fell in its innocence on the retreat of our forces. Abraham shorted his machine gun to the Syrian enemy to dozens, until he remained among the last of our forces, which were nicknamed by the enemy and could no longer retreat. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
