Friedman, Aharon


Son of Shulamit and David, was born on July 22, 1962 in Tel Aviv. Aaron was the second son of a traditional family. In his infancy, he discovered musical talent, and when he was six years old he received from his parents a “Afikoman gift” – a violin. He learned to play, and won certificates of excellence for his playing. At an older age, Aharon also played guitar. He began his studies at elementary schools in Bnei Brak, grades 1-4, studied at Ma’alot, and in the eighth to eighth grades he studied at Segula, where he studied Torah subjects. When Aaron was 14 years old, after completing elementary school, his father went on a mission to the United States. Aharon traveled with his family to New York, where he continued his studies. The transition to a school in a foreign country was difficult, but it overcame and won good achievements. Aharon excelled in sports and music and acquired many friends. After two years in New York he returned alone to Israel and his family stayed two years in the United States. Aharon returned to the 11th and 12th grades at the Nativ Meir high school in Jerusalem. Thanks to his skills, he also returned to the social circle from which he had separated two years earlier. He wrote many poems and stories. His dream was to be a writer and a journalist. Aharon belonged to the Bnei Akiva movement. The separation from his family weighed heavily upon him, but during this period he became stronger and his character was formed. One of his teachers spoke about him after he was killed: “He was a pleasant, well-educated and talented boy, his interests varied and varied, his horizons were wide and his imagination rich and fruitful, and he was always among the best in his class, Painting and playing. ” After graduating from Netiv Meir, Aharon joined the Har Etzion hesder yeshiva in Alon Shvut. He had already prepared himself for his service in the IDF, and he strove to advance in service, and his goal was to raise the prestige of yeshiva students in the IDF. He was aware of his skills. His appearance was impressive, and he had the ability to influence. In April 1981, Aharon enlisted and served in the Armored Corps, where he underwent basic training and a tank driver’s course, Aharon participated in the Peace for Galilee War, and after the fighting in April 1983 , Was sent to the tank commanders course and successfully completed his course as an outstanding apprentice, but he did not get to the graduation ceremony on August 24, 1983, when he was working on the tank surface where he had been trained to drive a tanker, Accident and Aharon was killed and killed, 21 years old when he died, and his unit commander wrote to his family: “Aharon turned out to be an exemplary soldier, above all – as a human being. As an outstanding trainee he was the best in the company. It was evident that he had the sense of mission and dedication of a yeshiva student, who was faithful to the values ​​of faith and represented in his own way the way he received at home and in the yeshiva. “Aharon was buried in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv, By his friends at Yeshivat Har Etzion, one on the thirtieth day of his death, and the other on the anniversary of his death
