Frenkel, Naftali (Hugo, Hertzi)

Son of Sara-Feiga and Dan, was born on October 3, 1905 in Tokay, Hungary to a well-to-do family, that was educated in Torah. He immigrated to Israel against his parents’ wishes. He took part in the defense of Tel Aviv and its surroundings, and was stabbed in the ribs by Arab rioters. After he recovered, he worked regularly at Pardes Lavzovsky in Karkur, and later in a irrigation-pipe factory in Hadera, where he was also secretary of the Revisionist Party branch. During the operation “Yoav” for the breakthrough to the Negev, after the capture of Mi’ar, he rushed to the hospital to bring additional equipment to the front-aid station he was responsible for, and when he got what he wanted, he was hit in the head by enemy shell fragments and fell on the 16th of Tishrei (19.10.1948). He was brought to rest in the military cemetery in the village of Warburg and left a wife, Chana, a daughter and a son.
