Finkel, Moshe
Moshe, son of Frida and Ze’ev, was born on 21.1.1942 in Tel Aviv, Moshe was drafted into the IDF in early November 1959 and volunteered for the Paratroopers Brigade. After basic training and after completing a parachuting course, he was assigned to a paratroopers’ unit and soon became known as a brave and dedicated soldier. According to his commander, “honesty, fairness and assistance to others were a good thing in his company, and he successfully carried out every task he was assigned and won the esteem of his comrades and commanders.” During the Six-Day War, he participated in the battle for the liberation of Jerusalem as a volunteer, after joining his unit even though he was stationed in a non-combat unit at the time because of his wounds. After volunteering again for service in the paratroopers, he was transferred to his previous unit. Fearing that he would have to part from his comrades, he refrained from reporting another injury, which was injured when he fell. In 1964 he returned to Israel and began to work as a technical crew member in a film production company, and he became acquainted with many of the countries of the world and knew many people of different nationalities. He moved to Nahariya in 1967. In 1971, he returned to Israel for a professional training program and six months later returned to operate the factory, and during the Yom Kippur War his unit was sent to the Sinai front and participated in battles against the Egyptians. On the 20th of Tishrei 5734 (October 20, 1973) Moshe was with his unit near Haggai On the eastern bank of the Suez Canal, as part of a force that first broke into the West Bank and defended the bridges, and suddenly the unit was hit and killed by the enemy fire. after his fall was promoted to corporal.
