Aryeh was drafted into the IDF at the end of August 1967, two months after the end of the Six-Day War, and was assigned to the Armored Corps, where he completed a basic course in the Armored Corps and completed it successfully. He was very punctual and was meticulous in obeying orders, and his commanders were satisfied with him both as a soldier and as a person, and so, after a relatively short period of time, he was sent to a tank commanders course. He was known to be an excellent professional, familiar with all tank systems. After his regular service, Aryeh was discharged from the IDF and went to study electrical engineering at the Tel Aviv University branch in Holon. He excelled in his studies, but the Yom Kippur War, which broke out in his last year of studies, interrupted them. During the war Aryeh took part in the battles in Sinai and was one of the first to break into the West Bank of the Suez Canal. On October 16, 1973, his tank was hit by a missile ambush by the Egyptians and Aryeh was killed and brought to rest in the Safed cemetery, leaving behind his parents and sister.
