Evyatar Moshe Turgeman
Evyatar Moshe, the youngest son of Ora and Meir Turgeman, was born in 1993 in Beit She’an. Evyatar stood out for his sturdy body and bright smile. His exterior beauty matched his inner beauty. He was a man of principles, Torah and mitzvot, imbued with Zionism. After a year and a half in yeshiva, Evyatar successfully joined the Paratroopers Brigade and joined the Bezeq 202. About a year before his fall, while the family was traveling to Evyatar’s beret ceremony in Jerusalem, there was a very serious road accident in the Jordan Valley. His father was critically wounded and his two brothers were also injured. Evyatar insisted on taking care of his father while he was in a coma at the Rambam Hospital in the intensive care unit, and when Evyatar returned to military service, he continued to care for him with great dedication and helped him recover. On the fifth day of the ground entrance of Operation Tzuk Eitan, Evyatar accompanied the battalion commander to prepare the fighters for a long stay in Khan Younis. Under fire, Evyatar acted coolly and bravely, identified a terrorist and informed his commander. The terrorist hit the windowsill, they immediately bent down as the fire flashed overhead. A bullet hit Evyatar’s chest, and he whispered to his commander, “That’s it, Nissim, I’m dead.” Evyatar fell in a battle in Khan Younis during Operation Tzuk Eitan on 24 Tamuz, July 22, 2014, at the age of twenty and a half. Several other soldiers were injured in the incident. He was laid to rest in the Mount Herzl military cemetery in Jerusalem. Survived by his parents and three brothers. Evyatar was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant after his death.
