Esterin, Moshe

Son of Poriya and Zvi, was born on September 8, 1930 in the Borochov neighborhood near Tel Aviv. He attended the elementary school in the neighborhood. Was an independent and aggressive character who was discovered when he was a preschooler when he did not want to play dice like the rest of the children, saying: “From cubes do not build a house, from building blocks.” In 1944, after graduating from elementary school, he worked for a year in a printing press. He was a member of Hanoar Haoved. From the printing press he went to study at the son of Shemen Agricultural School. Where he showed dedication in caring for immigrant children and was an active member of the movement’s branch committee. He read books and knew the country’s vegetation well, but his main interest was in geography and history. Two years later, he left son of-Shemen, although part of his group remained there and joined the Magshimim enlisted in Kibbutz Yagur. His ambition was to establish settlements on the Red Sea coast. Soon he was to kiss the platoon in the “Haemek” battalion of the Yiftach Brigade. On April 21, 1948, during the battle for Zar’in, he was seriously injured in helping his injured friend. His friends could not get him out of the battlefield. He was captured by the Arabs, taken to Jenin, interrogated there and murdered after severe torture. He was crushed by organs and buried in Kfar Hasidim. On the 25th of Kislev 5712 (December 4, 1950), he was put to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
