Ephraim, Nehemiah (Nemi)

Son of Chana and Abba-Yitzhak. He was born in Moshav Nevatim on the 16th of Shevat, 5728 (February 15, 1968), a second son to his parents. He went to the kindergarten in the moshav and studied at the Omerim Elementary School in Omer. He completed his high school studies at the Ort College in Jerusalem, and studied at the Carmit boarding school. Was socially active and served as head of the student council at the boarding school. In this framework he organized events and helped many friends. As a result, his colleagues treated him as an adult brother with special moral authority. He was young, tall and stout, barely speaking, a constant smile on his face, and he projected confidence around him. Nami, who grew up in the moshav, loved the land and nature, which he knew from up close, but he also had the need to express himself in writing. He kept a diary, sections of which were published in the memorial booklet that was published in his memory. He was drafted into the army in August 1986 and volunteered to serve in Sayeret Matkal. Nehemiah fell in the line of duty on February 18, 1988, while training in the Mitzpeh Ramon area and was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva, where his two brothers – Dror and Assaf and three sisters – Riki, Osnat and Moran. The bereaved, his commander, wrote about the quiet, modest and dedicated way in which he fulfilled his tasks and met the difficult challenges of his emotional strength and the love of the person he carried within him, the fruit of the education he received at home.
