Elton, Shlomo


Shlomo, son of Avraham and Rachel Elton, was born on 10.4.1927 in Izmir, Turkey, where he studied at the Alliance and in a trade school. He immigrated to Israel in 1944 and was admitted to the “Youth Aliyah” In 1946, where he served until his service with the IDF began. When the Six-Day War broke out he was still the commander of the officers’ school, He wanted to leave and went down to serve on the front line. In the war itself, on the second day of the battles, he was seriously wounded on the southern front in Sinai and died at the hospital on June 22, 1967. He left a wife and two children. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa.
