Eliyahu, Oshrit

Daughter of Dalia and Ephraim. She was born on September 9, 1974 in Jerusalem. She studied at the “State B” elementary school in Neve Yaakov in Jerusalem and in the Neve Ya’akov junior high school. She graduated from the Polanski College of Education in Jerusalem and was born to her parents after two sons and was accepted with special warmth and joy, and she was able to restore warmth and joy to everyone around her. When her mother was hospitalized, 13-year-old Osherit took responsibility for caring for her baby brother, and worked at Bank Tefahot between her studies and the time she enlisted in the army. Osherit had many expectations of her military service, and she waited impatiently for enlisting in the IDF, and was drafted into the IDF in early January 1993 and began basic training. In her department’s assessment, she “did her job well with a show of responsibility, credibility, maturity and discipline.” On the 16 th of Tevet 5753 (16.1.1993), only twelve days after the conscription, Osherit fell during her service and was brought to eternal rest in the Mount Herzl Cemetery in Jerusalem. Survived by her parents, three brothers – Yaron, Shimon and Shai and sister – Ravit. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, her commander wrote: “Osherit expressed her desire to contribute and invest as a soldier and to continue to help her family. Her friend Shlomit Tabak wrote in her memory: “The tombstone is silent, it does not tell about your generosity, nor does it tell about your smile.” Her parents donated books in her memory to the synagogue, and even set up a corner for “bride and groom”.
