Eliman, Eliyahu
Eliahu, son of Rosa and Samuel, was born on February 20, 1947 in Cairo, Egypt, and immigrated to Israel in 1957. In Cairo Eliahu studied for four years in elementary school, and after immigrating to Israel he continued with them in the elementary school in Afula , Completed his high school studies at the ORT vocational high school in Holon, and took a training course at the ORT school in Jerusalem, and Eli liked to read a lot of literature, history books and especially Jewish history, and his library was replete with thick volumes Eliyahu was drafted into the IDF in early August 1965 and assigned to the Ordnance Corps. After basic training, he was trained as a soldier and assigned to the unit as a tank mechanic. He came to the army with professional knowledge in mechanics. During his service he participated in the Six-Day War and did his work with dedication and courage. He was awarded a special rank of sergeant and his certificate of release: “A dedicated and disciplined soldier, an excellent professional, talented and persistent in his work, he performed his duties to the satisfaction of the superiors.” After completing his regular service, he continued his studies at the ORT school in Jerusalem and in a course for instructors in Magdiel. Afterward he went to work in the IDF as a civilian who works in the IDF and eventually decided to go to the kibbutz and joined the Ramat Magshimim settlement on the Golan Heights. Where Eli met his wife, Nili, and together they moved to Bat Yam. During the Yom Kippur War, Eli served as a reserve soldier on the southern front and participated in assisting the forces that fought against the Egyptians in the Sinai. On October 18, 1973, he was killed and killed in an artillery shelling in the area of Su-Soir, while he was engaged in the return of a tank to operational capability. He was laid to rest at the Mount Herzl cemetery in Jerusalem. He left behind a wife, parents, two sisters and a brother. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant. In a letter of condolences to the family, Defense Minister Moshe Dayan wrote: “Eli was a devoted soldier and a loyal friend. His family donated to his memory a library of holy books for Ramat Magshimim.
