Eldad Regev

Tova and Zvi’s youngest son, Eldad was born on Wednesday 16.8.1980 in Kiryat Motzkin, he was a good and disciplined boy whose blue eyes, blond hair and smile charmed him. He studied at the “Mizpe” religious elementary school in Kiryat Motzkin, and at the Bnei Aharon Yeshiva in Kiryat Shmuel in Haifa, where he studied in the biological track and was a favorite of his friends, teachers and rabbis. Bnei Akiva. “Eldad’s favorite hobbies were soccer and reading, and since childhood he was an avid supporter of the Maccabi Tel Aviv team -” yellow “in heart and soul. The literary world was an inseparable part of Eldad’s life, and on the bookshelf in his room were books such as Ron Leshem’s “If There’s Heaven”, on which the film “Beaufort” , Books by Etgar Keret, and books of philosophy and Judaism, and his inner world and the ability to articulate the precise and precise wording of the songs that Eldad wrote, which were found after they fell, showed his kindness and willingness to contribute and help. The many friends he has accumulated – both religious and secular – tell of his good qualities and recall his special sense of humor. Eldad enlisted his strength and despite the pain and difficulty he completed his studies with great success, he insisted on serving in a combat unit, and when he enlisted in the IDF, he served as a combat soldier in the “Shaked” . Eldad loved his military service even though it was not easy. He fulfilled his duties with love and devotion and never complained about the difficulties. After his release, Eldad traveled with friends in Thailand. Upon his return he began working in the Haifa port security system, and later studied at the academic preparatory program at Bar-Ilan University in preparation for the Faculty of Law. Eldad’s love for soccer has not diminished over the years. He continued to follow the Maccabi Tel Aviv team as an active spectator who comes to the field, and during his last year he passed a course for soccer coaches. As a quality music lover, he watched the performance of Pink Floyd leader Roger Waters in Neve Shalom, as well as two performances by Ehud Banai. He faithfully fulfilled his duties in the reserve service, helped people in distress and volunteered for the Latet organization. On July 3, 2006, after completing his exams at the preparatory program, Eldad went to reserve duty on the northern border. During the reserve duty he spoke to his family and told him about his experiences. Three days before his abduction, he attended the annual memorial service for his mother, and then watched with his brother in the final of the World Cup between Italy and France. The next day, he returned to reserve duty. On July 12, 2006, the last day of reserve service, Eldad and his friend, First Sergeant Ehud (Udi) Goldwasser, set out for their final tour. The patrol included two Hummer vehicles traveling along a parallel axis of the perimeter fence from west to east, between Zar’it and Shatula, within the sovereign territory of the State of Israel. Udi sat in the front seat on the right. Eldad sat in the backseat behind Udi. At 09:05, Hezbollah terrorists opened heavy artillery shelling along the northern border. The barrage of fire included mortar fire, light arms fire, and Katyushas. In retrospect, it turned out that this was a diversion designed to disguise the planned abduction of the soldiers. At that time, the Hammer vehicles of the patrol rode through a wadi, when suddenly the patrol was attacked by one or two Hizbullah units. The first Hummer vehicle that Eldad and Udi were traveling in was hit first by RPG missiles. The HammerNabi, who was fifty to sixty meters behind him, reported on the incident before he was hit directly by two anti-tank missiles, which caused the deaths of the three soldiers in the vehicle – First Sergeant Sergeant Seih Nazal, Sergeant Eyal (Tuvia) And Sergeant Türjman, who opened fire on the wounded soldiers and the vehicles, and the first Hammer driver managed to stop the vehicle and escape. Eldad and Udi were deployed to Lebanon, and another squad, armed with light weapons and machine guns, backed the kidnappers. The soldiers were on their own before they were kidnapped, and the health situation at the time of the abduction, where traces of blood and a breach in the fence were found, immediately after the incident. With the “Negamon” entering Lebanese territory in an attempt to stop the terrorists’ escape vehicle, a tank that was estimated at hundreds of kilograms of explosives was found in a very short distance from the border. – First Shlomi Yirmiyahu, First Sergeant Gadi Musayev and First Sergeant Alexei Kushnirski – were killed. Sergeant Nimrod Cohen was killed shortly thereafter, when he arrived with the rescue force in the tank. Following this chain of events, the Israeli government decided to launch the Second Lebanon War. Eldad’s family received the first announcement of his absence from the city’s officer. Then came the officers of the “Unit” – the IDF’s Missing Persons Identification Unit, and were the liaison between the family and the political elements. Two days after the incident, the Hammer vehicles from which Eldad and Udi were kidnapped were displayed. Along with the high uncertainty and fear, there was great hope that the two were alive. Many prayers were held throughout the country for the welfare of the sons. Members of the Knesset and the President of the State visited the family home. Meetings were held with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, and Ofer Dekel, who is in charge of handling the kidnapped soldiers, updated the family on the moves. All the requests and requests to receive a sign of life from Eldad and Udi and allow the Red Cross to visit them were empty. After the abduction, extensive public activity was initiated to bring back Eldad and Udi as well as to return Gilad Shalit, who two weeks prior to the incident was kidnapped by Hamas to the Gaza Strip. The families met with leaders in Israel and around the world, and participated in rallies, demonstrations and many events accompanied by the slogan “And children returned to their borders.” Masses of citizens and bodies joined the public struggle. The activity received great support from all strata of the people at all levels and aroused worldwide resonance. Mordechai Algrabli and Shmuel Algrabli worked abroad; The Web site “Returning Boys to Their Frontiers” updated the efforts being made; Many donors from Israel and around the world enlisted to help. Eldad and Udi’s friends established the “Friends for the Kidnappers” headquarters. The Jewish communities abroad gave spiritual and financial support, encouragement, warmth and support. The Jews of Belgium and France organized a large solidarity rally for the entire family. It was the first flight abroad of Zvi, Eldad’s father, a flight filled with tremendous excitement and great pain. Another trip to England was organized by the Chabad movement in Canada, where meetings were held with senior officials in the parliament and meetings with schoolchildren, and in Israel, the Israel Cycling Association and Beek Israel initiated a mass cycling tour sponsored by large companies and websites, Photogroup, “in which Udi Goldwasser was a member, produced a photo album called” Pictures of T.Kaveh, “which was dedicated to the three soldiers, and a project to create a moving picture of the 80-year-old photographer, The Israel Project Management Association in Israel initiated the “Volunteer Journey” campaign together for them. Together for us. “The Modi’in Dance Company” Zuz Bamahol “performed at a large solidarity event in Jerusalem on August 31, 2006. A rally was held for the first time at Rabin Square in Tel Aviv, which was composed by Racheli Shavit and composed by Rami Kleinstein. Daily signed Yael Dan’s program “Making Lunch” on Army Radio. The media reported daily the days of captivity, broadcast special programs and did so in order to preserve public awareness. On the second anniversary of the kidnapping, the exhibition “Leaving Behind” was held – posters about the kidnapped soldiers at the Sapir School of Practical Engineers. These are just a few of the steps taken. Eldad’s family collected the numerous press clippings and documented the actions taken on behalf of the kidnapped soldiers. In their hearts the hope arose that when Eldad returned home, he would see the albums and discover the endless activity that had been done for his release. On the morning of Wednesday, July 16, 2008, after seven hundred and thirty-five days of pain and life between hope and despair, the bodies of Eldad and Udi were returned to Israel as part of a prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hezbollah. The medical tests indicated that the two were apparently killed during the abduction. On the fateful day, the Regev family gathered at the house in Kiryat Motzkin and clung to the media. The tension was at its peak. Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah continued to demonstrate his cruelty and continued to play with the families’ feelings even at the moment, but only at the last moment did the hope disappear when it became clear that the boys had returned to the coffins. Israel, and the rest of the world, thousands watched the funeral processions and all of Israel watched them: Eldad, who was twenty-six years old, was buried in the military cemetery in Haifa and left behind his father and three brothers. “On the day of the abduction, Eldad’s family discovered two notebooks in which he wrote short stories and poems. The IDF Martyrs, 5766 Two months and twelve days before the abduction, Eldad wrote in his notebook: “Perhaps there is consolation / at the end of the edge / there is hope that good will happen / there is memory and there is faith / Your names are not in vain / The heroes of glory in their death / “On the grave of Eldad, Ofer, his brother, spoke to him in the words of Shalom Hanoch,” just like you. “He continued:” You are proud of me, my younger brother. … We lived in a world where we wanted to believe that our enemy was just like us. A world in which we wanted to reach out, make peace. We thought we were talking to people who at the end of the day also wanted to raise a child. Smell a flower, love a girl. Just like us. But our enemy has shown us that he is exactly – not like us. … Eldad, I stand here today, sad, crying, but proud. I am proud of my country who fought with me to return. I am proud of every citizen who feels that you are his brother, just like me. I am proud of the mutual bond and the great love that the families have lavished upon us and Udi. I am proud to belong to lovers and not to those who hate. For those paying the cost of grinding their teeth, knowing that the mutual guarantee has no price. Proud of the army. … I’m proud of you,Eldad my younger brother, a talented but humble man, a book-loving intellectual and an avid soccer fan, an introverted and quiet man surrounded by friends, the sadness held inside him, his smile big and his eyes laughing. A real patriot, on the front and in the home front, in regular army service and reserves, on a voluntary basis and in involvement in social welfare organizations. … Noah peace Eldad, you came home. “Eulogized Eldad Dudu:” … Eldad, deeds are fruits, words are leaves. You were a man of deeds. Thank you Eldad for everything you have – friend, brother, son, nephew and friend. … Eldad defined Yaffa Ofer according to a picture from the age of four. This is a wonderful picture for me, a beautiful child, golden curls, a huge smile, a perfect illustration of the expression ‘laughing eyes’. The eyes that are the mirror of the soul that integrate here with the characteristics of early childhood – innocence, warmth, the ability to experience and radiate distilled emotions. It is worth reflecting Eldad as an adult: a real man devoid of ego and bad cynicism, games of honor and personal interests, with a big smile and laughing eyes buying everyone he meets. … You Eldad in our hearts we will remember forever, love you and long for the heart. “Many commemoration projects were done in memory of Eldad, and the University of Haifa decided to grant one hundred and twenty-one scholarships in the name of Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser. Eldad Neve Sha’anan. “The Maccabi Tel Aviv family called the boys’ group after Eldad 3. Giv’atayim Mayor Reuven Ben-Shahar initiated the placing of Gilad Yizkor in front of the municipality building and decided that the national flag that was placed in the past on the municipality building Along with the Givatayim flag, will be replaced by the flag of the POWs and MIAs – and will remain in place until Gilad Shalit’s return home. The song was performed by Eyal Golan: “I want you to be beautiful / just for my taste / with a sweet smell and a divine smile / I want you to know what sadness and longing / want you to understand the meaning I want to get into a little trouble / And I will save you / And you will thank me / I am not looking for thrills / But I need some interest in life / And if suddenly I get up and go / Say you are not angry /
