Efrati, Nir
Nir (Mordechai), son of Ora and Micha, was born on March 12, 1953 in Kibbutz Geva. He studied at the elementary school in Geva and at the joint high school in Emek Harod, and spent a year in Alumim. His friends called him Gaval, a name that stuck to him following a story that Nir told the group. Nir was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of November 1971, was assigned to the Armored Corps, and was transferred to the Armored Corps with honors. On October 6, 1973, during the first hours of the great battle in the Suez Canal, his tank was hit and burned, and Nir fell. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery on Kibbutz Geva. Survived by his parents and three sisters.
