Doron, Zohar


Son of Nava and Yehuda (Tommy). He was born on August 28, 1977 in Kibbutz Lahav. Brother to four-year-old Leah and two-year-old Libi. When he was two and a half years old, his sister Shani was born. Zohar was a beautiful big baby, with black hair and gray eyes, large palms and a dimple in his left cheek. A calm and comfortable child who for a few months only studied the world and then decided to move a bit too. He spent his infancy without any unusual events, except for severe pneumonia at the age of six months, from which he recovered with ten penicillin injections. Zohar was curious and interested. As early as childhood, he had shown intelligence and sharpness of mind along with concentration, excellent coordination, and an introverted character. At a young age, his father taught him to read, and he read a lot, liked assembly games, raised animals, played soccer, learned to play the piano and participated in various classes for gifted children. The days – the days of joint sleep, and Zohar was the youngest of his group, the Shakshak group. After six years of study at Kibbutz Lahav, he moved with his group to the Mevo’ot Hanegev educational institution on Kibbutz Shoval, a high school with a boarding school, together with the children of the nearby kibbutzim and later with the children of Lehavim, the nearby community settlement. Where he studied in the real world, played volleyball, played the guitar and also wrote to the local newsletter. He participated in the activities of the various boarding schools and was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair movement. Towards the end of the twelfth grade he traveled with his class to Poland and Prague, and despite his lack of effort, Zohar was a gifted student who completed his school with an excellent matriculation certificate and was reinforced in all the real subjects. “You, Zohar, really belong to another world of quiet, of learning and interest, of solving problems through understanding, of first thought and of giving up … You were not one of the great talkers, but when you had something to say, you knew how to find the stage. Zohar, you with your peace, with your intelligence and your bright smile, have always managed to open hearts, to convey a message that can be trusted and to declare: ‘I exist and receive “As a teenager, Zohar discovered the computer, and it was love at first sight, and he invested many hours and did not spare himself the effort to study himself in various computer fields: writing software, internet, and of course playing. Towards the end of his studies, Zohar hesitated about his military future and decided to register for the combat reserve. He successfully passed the psychometric test, was accepted to study computer and mathematics at Ben-Gurion University in Be’er Sheva, and even received a scholarship for excellence for new students. He studied for a year at the university and then decided to stop his studies and enlist. In the summer of 1996, Zohar enlisted in the IDF and was assigned to the Nitzan unit of the Intelligence Corps, where he served as a soldier and served in Lebanon for three periods On the 5th of Tishrei 5759 In the battle in Lebanon.In the last descent from the line, during the Sukkot holiday, an explosive charge was detonated by Hizbullah terrorists near an IDF convoy in the town of Hatzviya. In the letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Zohar symbolized for us the ability to ask questions and arrive at the truth, with an expression of wisdom and modesty combined together. We will remember Zohar, modest and with peace of mind, along with wisdom and of course the constant smile he has taken care of. ” The press extensively covered the circumstances of the disaster and illuminated the image of Zohar. On the first anniversary of his downfall, Zohar’s family published a memorial booklet containing pictures from his various life stations, excerpts from the family diary, and passages written by Zohar, as well as letters and poems written by relatives and friends. One of the members wrote in his memory: “The pieces of the puzzle that make up my life are missing one important piece / piece that always smiles / and is always happy to help / Whenever I put myself up / there is a black hole in the ninth piece from below / / It will always remain one and only. ” Another friend wrote: “To start from nothing / and to reach this island of existence, to the sense of nothing, to connect half memories and weaknesses and envy and jokes / to pick up fragments of love / to the man who stopped in the middle and to like him / I feel / still the parts of him that remain inside me / rebel and want to live / seek you here with us / flies swimming in the soup pulp of reality / with us in life. “
