Dominitz, Mina


Daughter of Rachel and Jacob-Meir. She was born in 1897 in Slonimsk, Russia, and immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1925. In August 1933, the family settled in the village of Givaton, an isolated agricultural settlement near Rehovot, And in the events of 1936-1939, Gibbaton served as an outpost for the defense of the Moshava, the streets of Masada, and the members of the Haganah and the Haganah who would leave after the working day to guard along the security fence that surrounded the village Mina, also a member of Hagana, fulfilled her obligation to maintain and provide first aid to the victims, on the 28th of Adar, An Arab gang attacked the village. The night was dark and dark, and despite the armed resistance from the defenders, some of the gang members managed to penetrate the extremist houses. They also penetrated the home of the Dominitz family, who was standing in the last row of houses in the west of the village, stabbing Mina and two of her sons and seriously wounding a third son. Father Baruch was in the hospital at the time after being injured in a car accident and was saved. His second daughter, who was at that time in a convalescence home after a serious illness, was also saved. Mina was laid to rest in the cemetery in Rehovot and was buried in a row of graves of the martyrs of the riots. She assumed a husband and daughter. Her name was immortalized in the book “Rehovot” and in the “Talmim” booklet.
