Domb, Roy (Dombie)
Roy ben Ruth and Abraham was born on the 26th of Shevat, February 2, 1970 in Tel Aviv. His friends described him hearty, laughing, ‘handsome’ and sympathetic, a vigorous young man, full of infectious optimism. Roy was drafted into the army the beginning of August 1988. He volunteered for the Givati Brigade, where he completed a basic training course and a course for noncoms of the engineering corps, and was assigned to the platoon engineering company. His commanders testified that he was a commander in heart and soul, professional, thorough, the pride of a unit. On the 10th of Kislav, November 26, 1990, aged 20, he fell in combat in Lebanon, in a clash with a terrorist squad, with four other soldiers – Yuval Weinstein, Guy Tal, Amnon Kadmon and Gad Meinfeld – who were brought to rest in the cemetery in Ra’anana. Roy leaves behind, parents, a brother Itai, and a sister Einat. .He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant after his fall. In the letter of condolence to the family, the unit commander wrote: “Roi served as a personal example, both as a person and as a commander, very concerned about his subordinates, diligent and professional in his duties. “
