Dinovitz, Avshalom

Dinovitz, Avshalom

Son of-Batya and Haim-Baruch, was born in Petah Tikva in 1911. A third generation of the founders of the moshava (his grandfather, Mordechai Dinovitz, immigrated to Israel with his family in the Second Battalion.) Avshalom studied at a school in Petach Tikvah and from his youth was involved in the agricultural work. He took an active part in the Haganah and took an important position at the age of 20. Avshalom joined the Notary Army and was promoted to the rank of Serge (Sergeant) and served in the Israel Defense Forces for four years, most of his role – the connection with the Arabs in the neighborhood who knew him and respected him, But despite his betrayal during the War of Independence, he urged him to fight them, although he did not have to enlist, volunteered to fight the War of Independence, served in the Alexandroni Brigade and was promoted to company commander. He was silent and serious and with that – his face shining; He was quick and highly capable, contemptuous of his cowardice, but his soldiers cared for his sons. When he was in the Tel Mond bloc and saw Jewish orchards destroyed by Arabs – he broke into an Arab village alone and with an automatic device he looted the looters and for a while ruled quiet in the whole area. Before taking action on the front of Wilhelma and its environs, he learned of one of his daring acts: he led two volunteer patrols through the Arab defensive lines, 15 kilometers in the enemy’s rear, and brought important information that helped the occupation of the area by our forces. The day before his death, he wrote to his wife and children: “I could not come to see you when I saw the loyalty of my soldiers and their dedication – they are my family today.” The next day, the Iraqis and the Iraqis launched a counter-attack on Migdal Tzedek, but were repulsed. 15 meters on the 18th of Tammuz 5708 (18.7.1948) fell in Migdal Tzedek, and was put to rest at the military cemetery at the entrance Kawa. Laid wife and three children.
