Dicker, Theodore (Teddy)

Dicker, Theodore (Teddy)

Theodore, the youngest son of his parents, Elisha and Malka Dicker, was born in Trieste, Italy, on September 24, 1936. During the Second World War, he spent his life in Italy fleeing from village to village, fearing for his father, who was brought to a concentration camp at the outbreak of the war. And at the age of 12 he stole a boat to try to reach the shores of the country on its own. Finally in 1949 he immigrated with his family. He was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in November 1954 and served in the Armored Corps, where he underwent various basic training courses. He was discharged with the rank of lieutenant, then went to work at the naval commando unit to save money for the continuation of his studies. On the 4th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967), the fourth day of the battles, when he was a sabotage officer in his battalion, he fell in a battle west of Bir Gafgafa in Sinai during an attack on the battalion’s night parking lot. He was buried in the military cemetery in Bari and was later transferred to the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
