Dahan, Moshe
Son of Fortuna and Nissim was born on 17.2.1966 in Holon. The Dahan family is a veteran of the city of Holon, where Moshe studied at the Katznelson Elementary School, and at the ORT school, in the field of fine mechanics. He belonged to Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed. In the school and in the “Hapoel” framework, Moshe was active in various sports. He participated in the Hapoel conference and played basketball. Moshe was an introverted, sensitive, handsome boy, tall and broad. He excelled in his studies, took an active part in social events and was a favorite of his friends in the school and in the youth movement. When he finished 12th grade at ORT, Moshe was a candidate for continuing his studies at the 13th grade, in preparation for receiving the title of “qualified technician,” but he preferred to enlist in the IDF. On March 17, 1985, on the way back from his vacation to his base, Moshe drove in a military jeep from Metula towards Lebanon, where he was hit by a car bomb that detonated explosives. Moshe, together with another 11 of his friends, was 19 years old when he died, and Defense Minister Yitzhak Rabin wrote to his parents: “Moshe was an excellent soldier, an exemplary friend, loved by all.” The commander of his unit wrote to his parents: Yale, who has excellent, responsible, dedicated professional knowledge, performed his duties to the satisfaction of his commanders, while showing his will and perseverance. He was a loyal friend, helped his friends and contributed greatly to the friendship relations of the workshop.
