Com, Nachum (Carmi)


Son of Pesia and Eliahu, was born in 1910 in the city of Rzesica in White Russia. After World War I, the family moved to Poland. In 1928 he immigrated to Israel with his parents and worked in agriculture near his father. Later he studied and worked in it and settled in Jerusalem. The successful sabotage and raids on the Mujerra neighborhood he organized and carried out with trickery and bravery frightened the Arabs and the Exodus from there. Before the British left, he prepared his men for larger operations and on the day of their departure he conquered the Mea She’arim police station and encamped there. On May 19, 1948, a very heavy bombardment was carried out on Jewish Jerusalem, and especially on the section Nahum was in charge of, and when Nachum left the command room for a patrol, a fragment of a shell hit the grenade that was hanging from his belt and was shattered by the explosion of the grenade. On September 10, 1950, was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
