Cohen, Uzi
Uzi, son of Leah and Salah Cohen, was born in 1954 in Afula. At the end of his studies, Uzi joined the Border Police, where he continued his regular service. He began his service as a fighter in Hebron, and later, when he moved to the army, he served in Ashdod as a gunman. Afterward, he served in the Jerusalem Border Police as a welfare worker and later moved to Beit Dagon for a short period, from where he moved to Yehuda and Shomron as an assistant welfare officer. On the day of the 12th of Adar 5756 (March 3, 1996) a terrorist blew up on bus No. 18 in Jerusalem, where Uzi went to work. Uzi suspected the terrorist, and when he recognized that Uzi was going to get up at him, he blew himself up. Eighteen people were killed in the attack. It was a second attack on the same bus, a week after Uzi was saved from the first attack. Uzi was forty-two years old when he fell. He was buried in the cemetery on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem.
