Cohen (Tarshinsky), Baruch
Son of Rochel and Avraham-Meir Rosen, was born on June 18, 1916, in the city of Vilna, which was then part of Russia. In 1937 he was drafted into the Polish army and was captured by the Russian army and taken to Russia, where he was liberated and wandered until he reached a Polish army camp in southern Russia. In 1943 Baruch arrived in Israel with the Polish army, deserted the army, changed his name from Tarshinsky to Cohen and stayed in Israel where he found relatives and friends from his past. He was a skilled worker and devoted to his family, and on May 20, 1948 he was drafted into the army and served as a professional in the Ordnance Corps until he died in an accident while serving the army near Lod Airport on the 10th of Shevat 5709 (8.2.1949). He was laid to rest at the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery. He left behind a wife, Devorah, and a son, Yoel.
